What You’ll Learn

After you learn the basics in any Spanish course or lesson, teachers then say the same thing, “Practice makes perfect.” But what good is practice if, without knowing it, you develop a bad habit and repeat it? With The Cartesian Spanish Pronunciation Lesson you’ll learn what that bad habit is and how to use it to your advantage.

You’ll learn:

  • The fundamental difference between “American English” and Spanish
  • What “Your Version of Spanish” is
  • How to speak as a Spanish-speaking person (if you’re learning Spanish)
  • How to speak as an English-speaking person (if you’re learning English)
  • More effective listening for acquiring new words
  • How to learn other languages
  • and how to do Accents and become the life of the party…(even if you don’t care)

With the secret of The CSPL you’ll forever understand the difference between “American English” and every other language on Earth. That difference will help you pronounce Spanish more correctly, sooner and make it easier for you to hear any new words (in whatever language you may be learning) and learn them more quickly.

What about Scotland?

But how can The CSPL be the key to learning every other language? That’s because every other language in the world, regardless of their unique vowel sounds, consonant sounds, diphthongs, etc. also emphasize VOWELS over CONSONANTS. The funny thing is that if you apply “Spanish pronunciation” to Swedish, Mandarin, German, Afrikaans, etc. you’ll be much, much closer to pronouncing those languages correctly.

How about English spoken in the UK, England, Scotland, Ireland? What about Australia and South African English?

Well, let’s take the words “Scotland” and “Scottish” as examples. The wonderful people of those lands do not pronounce those words in this way:

SCoTTiSH, SCoTLaND

Instead, they swallow their CONSONANTS so much that they roll over them and barely say hello to them. Their VOWELS get all of their attention. Just listen, and try to decipher, any Scottish person speaking English or Scots even more so. These words sound/look like this:

scOHt-Ish, scOHt-lAHnd

The same is true for German, a language that has so many more consonants in their words. Nevertheless, how do they say “I love you?” That phrase is “Ich liebe dich” and it does not sound/look like this:

eeK LeeBah DeeK

Instead, it’s much softer and lovely with their aspirated “ch” sound:

EEch lEEbAH dEEch

Thanks to The CSPL — learning the difference between emphasizing VOWELS and CONSONANTS distinctly — you will become much more confident speaking Spanish because you’ll know 100% how the words you’re saying are supposed to sound.

The CSPL has an added benefit. Not only will you now be able to learn Spanish correctly. You’ll become much better at mimicking accents, if that’s an interest. Even if you’re not interested in doing “funny accents,” you’ll be able to. The same distinction at the core of The CSPL will show you how and why foreigners sound the way they do and why “gringos” sound the way they do when they trade places.

Welcome to The CSPL and your new life as a Spanish speaker, not a speaker of your version of Spanish. Learning and speaking Spanish will now be—as we like to say— un placer!
